President João Lourenço Honors Haim Taib with Angola’s Peace and Development Medald

As part of Angola’s 50th independence anniversary celebrations, H.E. President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço awarded Haim Taib — Founder and President of the Menomadin and Mitrelli Group — the Peace and Development Medal (Classe Paz e Desenvolvimento). The honor recognizes more than three decades of partnership with Angola and his contribution to strengthening the nation’s economic and social foundations.

Taib first arrived in Angola in 1991, during the civil war, and went on to lead over 100 national-scale projects across the country. His work began with Aldeia Nova, a post-war initiative that united former opposing sides around food production and became a symbol of peace and agri-industrial development. From that foundation, his ecosystem of companies — including Mitrelli, Luminar, Menomadin, and JETA — became a strategic partner of Angola across water, food security, energy, housing, education, healthcare, and technology.

Most recently, in 2025, Taib co-founded the Lobito Corridor Impact Development (LCID) Platform with Angola’s Sovereign Wealth Fund — a USD 1 billion private-sector-led initiative designed to unlock infrastructure, trade, agriculture, and education across Angola, the DRC, and Zambia.
